When the school term and end of year draws closer, I know that the teachers and staff are enthusiastically counting the days.
Once the children leave, our work continues.
OPERATION CLEAN UP is the big project. This can only be done when the little people are off site.
The children finished on Friday 30th November after an action packed week of concerts, celebrations and the Grade R graduation.
The staff ALL returned on MONDAY 3rd December to begin Operation Clean Up.
There was much laughter, chatting, washing and scrubbing.
By day 3 the school was transformed it was time to relax, well almost….
On Wednesday 5th December the staff were taken to the beach front by friends and committee members to enjoy a delicious breakfast at Circus Circus. We also shared our Secret Santa gifts with each other and created quite a lot of curious attention with our singing and laughing.
HOWEVER, our work was not yet complete and at 12h00 we left for UNISA Bright Site to attend a Workshop presented by Dr Thandeka Maine who is so enthusiastic and passionate about her vocation.
She shared some excellent ideas on language development with pre-school children especially when you are introducing a second and third language. She also stressed the importance of protecting the mother tongue.
We enjoyed more delicious snacks and refreshments and were also presented with a gift bag and chocolates.
At 15h00 when the meeting finished, we were officially off duty.
Our “taxis” took us back to school, we said our farewells and shared Christmas wishes….until we meet again on the 7th January for the start of a new term and year.
