This might have started out as an ordinary day in May for you……
But for the children of Makabongwe this was going to be a day to remember.
At 09h30 the PEP Dynamos arrived and the school was immediately a hive of activity and anticipation.
Our special PEP visitors were:-
Claudine Pillay – Tugela Regional People Support Manager, Desery Nair – Area Manager Durban, Vanitha Naidoo – Store Manager, Ntombenhle Mtembu – Store Manager, Kgotso Makhony – Sales Assistant, Khanyisani Dlamini – Store Manager, Michael Ngeleka – Store Manager and Felicia Hlela – Store Manager.
Once they had set up their banners outside and prepared the grounds for the games, we rang the bell inviting the children to come into the BIG shed to receive the winter pyjamas which PEP had donated.
The Makabongwe children delighted the PEP team with a couple of songs and lots of hugs.
Each PEP representative handed out pyjamas to a different class. There were lots of curtsies, thanks you and more hugs.
Once the pyjamas had been packed safely away in the children’s lockers, it was playtime.
The children enjoyed egg and spoon races – (the easiest way of doing this is to hold the egg down on the spoon when running), sack races, three legged races, twirling hula hoops and ending with a dance competition, which included the teachers.
Ms Londiwe Mhlongo – one of our teacher assistants – won a cell phone from PEP for her energetic and enthusiastic dancing efforts.
The race winners received prizes and all the Makabongwe staff were presented with a lovely mug.
It was a really fun morning and we appreciate all the effort, love and time dedicated to make Thursday 24th MAY no ordinary day for the children at Makabongwe.
Photos say so much more than words – enjoy sharing our day with the PEP dynamos in colour and action.
