I was overwhelmed and amazed at the outcome of the Bridge Fund Raising Drive held on WEDNESDAY 20th JUNE
Over 80 Bridge players descended on Trinity Methodist Church with open “HEARTS” and keen to play the game they all clearly so enjoy.
Jessica, Rosie, Alix and Melissa – 4 of our “ACE” Executive committee members – planned, orchestrated and managed the morning which was described by many of the players as the best bridge morning they had ever attended.
I can’t say I am surprised with the team who were responsible for the morning.
Laura Donet and Wendy Syers – invited and encouraged many of the players who attended AND very capably organised all the scoring.
It was very difficult to resist all the delicious eats which ALL looked so inviting displayed on the colourful lime green overlays.
If any of the players were trying to diet, it would have been extremely difficult to resist the selection of scrumptious treats.
Thanks to Melissa Hosking who always ensures guests at a function are well fed and watered.
The prize table groaned under the weight of some marvellous prizes from numerous friends and sponsors.
There were beauty treatments, food vouchers, jewellery, food hampers, to name just a few – some “DIAMOND” prizes for the offering
Approximately R32 000.00 was raised which includes a “taster” bridge fund raiser by Alix, a donation from a friend in Germany, another donation from Trinity Methodist Church PLUS all the sales for a place at a table to play bridge.
All the participants had dug deep with their “SPADES” and gave incredibly generously.
This has got to be a record for FUND RAISING playing BRIDGE.
The raffle was well supported with some very enticing prizes to be won:-
Champagne Castle Hotel (2 week nights for 2)
Alpine Heath (self catering accommodation for a weekend)
Kirsten Goss earrings
A special thanks to our young helpers Rachel and Georgina who sold raffle tickets – who could possibly refuse such lovely young ladies?
Note to self : take up Bridge sooner than later and don’t miss out on all this action and fun.
The photos attached testify to a successful morning ALL round.
A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE – workers, helpers, donors, sponsors – not forgetting ALL the Bridge players.
