Many years ago Durban Girls College adopted us as their outreach school and we have enjoyed a very special relationship with them every since.

This includes receiving delicious sandwiches every Wednesday, stationery and other educational equipment and material AND a Christmas Party with entertainment and gift bag for the Grade R learners.

This is the story of our adventures on Wednesday 15th November.

The bus arrived and the noise levels increases. The children know when a bus arrives at Makabongwe something exciting is about to happen.

On arrival at Durban Girls College we headed straight to the hall where the children were entertained by the Junior choir singing some fun Christmas songs.

Lisa from Educate and Fascinate shared a wonderful story about wild animals in the jungle and about sticking together, sharing and being a good friend.

The children loved her animated and engaging way of relating the story and all wanted to dress up as one of the animals.

The teachers really enjoyed and appreciated the staff room experience where they went to make their tea and enjoy a freshly baked mince pie and carrot cake.

The morning was one surprise after the next….

The children devoured and clearly enjoyed the pizza surprise.

And there was more…..

Followed by an ice-lolly. Even the weather did not “dampen” the spirits of the children both at College and Makabongwe.

And there was more…..

Each child was presented with a gift pack of “goodies” – toiletries, stationery, underwear – all much needed and appreciated.

All the Makabongwe children had decorated a small gift bag and we were able to give each College learner a little Christmas treat.

We were proud to present Durban Girls College with a Certificate of Care – because they truly do care and they truly do make a difference to the children of Makabongwe
