Heritage Day is a South African public holiday celebrated on the 24th
September. It is a day to remember and celebrate the various South African
culture’s and their heritage. On this day, South Africans across the
spectrum are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of
their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs
to all its people.
We celebrated Heritage Day at Makabongwe on Tuesday 26th September with
singing and dancing and colourful attire.
Both teachers and learners joined in the festivities with enthusiasm and
It was very clear that the learners were extremely proud of their heritage
and especially the colourful outfits which most of them wore.
“Sounds the call to come together and united we shall stand.
Let us live and strive for freedom, in South Africa our land”
